History

Baal first appeared in the episode "Summit". During the meeting, Osiris appears as a surprise guest who speaks on the behalf of Anubis, advocating his return to the rank of the System Lords. Baal is among the goa'uld who vote for his admittance.

Baal appeared once more in the episode "Abyss". Baal captured Jack O'Neill after his Tok'ra symbiote Kanan abandoned him to prevent information falling into goa'uld hands. O'Neill was tortured, killed, and resurrected several times by Ba'al. He eventually escaped when SG1 delivered information about Baal's secret base to his enemy, Lord Yu and Yu attacked the base allowing O'Neill to escape.

In "Homecoming" Teal'c, a prisoner of Lord Yu, contacts Baal with the help of Yu's first prime Oshu and convinces Baal to attack Anubis at Kelowna using the System Lords' combined fleet. Anubis had already fled but Baal managed to destroy his mother ship. With the entire fleet at his command, Baal attacked Anubis.

Anubis' fleet was ultimately destroyed at Earth using the Ancient weapon at the Atlantus Outpost and Baal seized the remainder of Anubis' army and technology and attacked the other System Lords. Baal lost ground to Anubis once he returned and was forced to serve him. Baal's war against the System Lords was halted by the invasion of the Replicators who destroyed the System Lords and Baal began to lose his fleet to them as well.

When called upon to help defeat the Replicators using the Weapon at Dakara, Baal helped Samantha Carter and Jacob Carter modify the weapon and dial all the Stargates in the galaxy. The weapon was unleashed and all the replicators in the galaxy were destroyed. In the wake of the defeat of the System Lords, Anubis, and the Replicators, Baal was one of the last remaining System Lords. With the goa'uld empire in the hands of the Jaffa, Baal found a secure hiding place on Earth. He planned to live out his exile under the cover of legitimate business.

He was soon discovered and he threatened to destroy a US city if he was not left alone. He wired a building in Seattle with naquadah and the building exploded but only after it was beamed into space by the Prometheus. Baal was captured on Earth by the Jaffa and publicly executed on Dakara. He was only one of several Baal clones however, and the others remained in hiding on Earth.

Baal began rebuilding his empire and used Asgard beaming technology to steal Stargates from other planets. His plans came to an end when his former ally Nerus downloaded a virus created by the SGC, into his mothership. SG1 managed to beam the Stargates off his mothership and Baal's ship and several clones were destroyed by the Lucian Alliance.

Baal sent one his clones to Earth and allowed him to be captured by the SGC. He outwitted the SGC, allowing them to capture several of his clones, each implanted with a locator beacon. The clones then escaped the SGC with the aid of a brain washed Agent Malcolm Barrett, and managed to coerce Carter into giving them a full list of the planets in the SGC database. Using the combined, amplified signal of their locator beacons, they were beamed out of the SGC by Baal or another of his clones. Baal used the address list in his search for the Holy Grail.

While searching for the grail, SG-1 came across Baal whos had been stuck inside a forcefield for three days. Daniel Jackson solved the puzzle enabling their escape and Baal joined them on their quest.
