Avenger is a computer program designed by Dr. Jay Felger ("Avenger 2.0"). Its original purpose was to shut down the Stargates on planets under control of the System Lord Baal. However, Baal managed to modify the computer virus and use it to his benefit by disabling many Stargates throughout the galaxy, with the exception of the Earth gate, which is not connected to a DHD. Samantha Carter and Dr. Felger traveled to another planet in order to rectify the situation, and destroy the altered computer virus by triggering a correlative update to the gate network using their own Dialing computer program.
