August William Derleth (b. February 24, 1909 – d. July 4, 1971) is an American author known for his contributions to the Cthulhu Mythos. He is also the author of the Solar Pons series, the most extensive Sherlock Holmes pastiche series ever written. Included among these are two short stories that he wrote in conjunction with Mack Reynolds that had a science fiction theme. These were "The Adventure of the Snitch in Time" and "The Adventure of the Ball of Nostradamus". Both these stories appeared in The Solar Pons Omnibus, published by Arkham House in 1982.
