Audacious is a 2007 novel by Mike Shepherd it is the fifth in his Kris Longknife series. Protagonist, Lr. Kris Longknife, princess of the 100 worlds of Wardhaven is back. This time, Kris is on a mission to the world of New Eden where a revolution may be building. Joining Kris is her maid, Abby, bodyguard Jack Montoya and her intelligent computer, Nelly.
Humans have lived on New Eden for 400 years and is one of 600 planets of The Society of Humanity. Kris' grandfather, King Raymond, sends her on a mysterious mission that soon has killers stalking her. She suspects Victoria Smyther-Peterwald may behind some of the assassination attempts as she may want revenge for the death of her brother.
Kris must figure out her grandfather's intentions and determine whether to help the revolution along or put an end to it.
