The Atlantis Expedition is a fictional group of scientists, explorers and soldiers in the Stargate universe, sent from Earth to explore the lost city of the Ancients, discovered in the Pegasus Galaxy.

The expedition, assembled by Dr. Elizabeth Weir, traveled to the Pegasus Galaxy via the Stargate to the sunken city of Atlantis. Weir gathered her team of the best and brightest from numerous countries of Earth with the premise that they may never be able to return home. Defense of the Expedition rested solely in the hands on American soldiers stationed there.

The military teams were originally led by Colonel Marshall Sumner who was quickly replaced by Colonel John Sheppard, following his death. Other scientists include Katie Brown, Payne, Parrish.

Changes

During the first days of the expedition, the military leader, Colonel. Sumner was killed and replaced by John Sheppard. Leader of the Athosians, Teyla Emmagan joined the team. The expedition later lost Dr. Carson Beckett replaced by Dr. Jennifer Keller, Dr. Weir replaced by Samantha Carter and later Richard Woolsey. Munitions expert, Aiden Ford abandoned the expedition after a life changing experience with a Wraith and was replaced on Sheppard's team by Satedan soldier Ronon Dex.
