At the Earth's Core is a 1976 sci fi adventure film directed by Kevin Connor. Connor also worked on a previous Edgar Rice Burroughs adaptation The Land That Time Forgot which also featured Doug McClure and Bobby Parr. Also appearing in the film is horror legen Peter Cushing who plays David Innes. The film is set in the Victorian era and centers on a scientist and his American financial backer. The pair test a drilling machine which proves to be extremely powerful and drills into a vast cavern near the center of the Earth. There, they discover humans enslaved by large, evil, prehistoric birds with extra-sensory abilities. The visitors decide to assist the slaves.
