Astounding Science Fiction was the title of the current run magazine Analog Science Fiction and Fact during its run from 1938 - 1960.
History
The magazine is the longest continuously run Science Fiction publication of all time. It was started in 1930 as Astounding Stories and changed its name to Astounding Science Fiction in 1938. From 1950 until 1960, the magazine's name slowly changed and evolved until it was renamed Analog Science Fiction Science Fact.
The magazine has gone through a retinue of editors during its lifetime, most famously John W. Campbell who was responsible for changing the name to Astounding and then also evolving the name to Analog. He discovered and published works by such authors as Robert A. Heinlein, Isaac Asimov, A.E. Van Vogt, and L. Ron Hubbard. After John Campbell's sudden death in 1971, Ben Bova took the reins of the magazine, and ran with it until 1978, when the torch was passed to current editor Stanley Schmidt.
