Artificial intelligence

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

Artificial Intelligence or AI is a class of computational technology which aims to create increasingly independent tools or systems capable of analysis, decisions and other work with decreasing dependence upon human input or direction.

AI and its philosophical, ethical, moral and political implications are all often the subject of works in science fiction (from R.U.R. the Insect Play to 2001: A Space Odyssey to Star Trek and Bicentennial Man) and even fantasy (Perdido Street Station).

The specific concerns with emerging technology and the imminent impact of a new intelligence upon humanity is known as The Singularity. Verner Vinge and Ray Kurzweil are known for writings upon this subject. Vince Vinge in particular addresses such issues in fictional format. Notable among his works are A Fire Upon the Deep and A Deepness in the Sky

It's usually best to give a very general overview to a story first, then plot details. When including the plot or essential details in your article (which could ruin the pleasure of discovery for some readers), it is important to include the spoiler tag before any give-away material.
