Arrakis, also known as Dune is a fictional planet in the Dune novel series by Frank Herbert. Arrakis the third planet of the star, Canopus, and the home of the Fremen. The planet is the only known source of of the Spice melange which makes interstellar travel possible and extends life.
Arrakis has two moons. Its surface is covered by a vast desert, hence its other name, Dune. The dunes are home to a giant burrowing sandworm which is integral to the creation and harvesting of spice.
