April visited Diana in Seattle and got to know her adopted daughter, Maia, a 4400 child with precognitive abilities. Trusting and happy for a family Maia trusted her aunt to love her for herself but felt betrayed when April used her abilities to gamble and wound up losing her mother's engagement ring. The situation caused a rift between April and Diana which was eventually mended.

April was overjoyed to have found love with a photographer, Ben, whom she met while traveling. She believed he would be "the one" and desperately hoped for her elder sister's approval. Diana did approve but fought her own attraction to Ben, particularly after Maia's vision suggested the two would marry. Ben broke off his relationship with April and he and Diana began secretly dating. April was devastated when Diana revealed the truth and doubted any possibility of future happiness. She chose to accept the free doses of promicin being given away knowing she had a fifty percent chance of dying or developing an ability.

April developed the ability to make others answer any question she asked, truthfully. With the help of her new boyfriend Colin, she used the ability to blackmail people using their inability to hide their secrets against them. When she discovered a conspiracy among government contractors, it led to Colin's death and she was forced to turn to Diana for help. April managed to force a confession from the head of a firm hired to created body armor for the US govt. Her ability revealed a dangerous flaw in the product the company attempted to cover up. Though she turned herself in to NTAC she managed to avoid imprisonment by agreeing to work with the government asking people questions.
