Angela Brigid Lansbury (b. October 16, 1925, London, England, UK) is an Academy Award-nominated English actress best known to many as the mystery solving Jessica Fletcher on the series Murder She Wrote. Lansbury was first nominated for an Oscar in 1945 for the film Gaslight and was nominated again in 1946 for The Picture of Dorian Gray and in 1963 for The Manchurian Candidate.
Among Lansbury's genre contributions are the films Bedknobs and Broomsticks, The Company of Wolves , Mrs. Santa Claus, Beauty and the Beast, and Nanny McPhee.
