Andrew Robinson

Andrew Jordt Robinson (b. January 14, 1942, New York City, New York) is an American stage, film, and television actor and director who may be best known to genre fans in the role of Cardassian, Elim Garak on the series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Robinson also directed one episode of the series and two episodes of Star Trek: Voyager. Robinson is known for playing villains with a streak of pscyhotic and has appeared mainly in television roles. In addition to his appearance on 'DS9 he may also be remembered as the serial killer Scorpio in the 1971 film Dirty Harry, and Larry Cotton in the horror movie Hellraiser

Robinson grew up in New York City and studied at the University of New Hampshire. He received his B.A. in English from the New School for Social Research in New York City. He furthered his education at the London Academy for Music and Dramatic Arts while on a Fullbright Scholarship. He began his career in theatre but also divided his time between film and television. His early appearances include guest roles on Bonanza, and his film debut in Dirty Harry opposite Clint Eastwood.

Robinson made his genre film debut in House of Evil. His other genre appearances include Kolchak: The Night Stalker, The Incredible Hulk, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Twilight Zone, Hellraiser, Child's Play 3, Trancers III, Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings, The Puppet Masters, M.A.N.T.I.S, The Pretender, The Sentinel, The X-Files, and the video game Earth and Beyond.
