Andrew McCarthy (b. November 21, 1962, New York City, NY) is an American actor who gained modest popularity in the late 80s in such films as Pretty in Pink, Mannequin and Weekend at Bernies. McCarthy grew up in New Jersey and after high school, attended New York University where he majored in theatre. He made his film debut in the 1983 film Class alongside Rob Lowe and John Cusack. McCarthy studied at the Circle in Square Theater School and has appeared in several Broadway and off-Broadway productions.
McCarthy made his genre film debut in Mannequin costarring Kim Catrall. Over the years he has appeared in occasional genre productions which include, The Twilight Zone, Kingdom Hospital, and, in 2008, The Spiderwick Chronicles.
