Petty Officer Anastasia Dualla (played by Kandyse McClure), on The SCI FI Channel TV series Battlestar Galactica, is a deckhand currently on Combat Information Center duty. She is no-nonsense, tough and pragmatic—even when falling in love.

History

On Galactica, Dualla served as a communications officer. She also coordinates FTL jumps with Tactical Officer Felix Gaeta.

Dualla joined the Colonial Fleet Reserve against the wishes of her father who, like most Sagittarons, believed in pacifism. Dulla's last contact with her father was a heated argument. The two never reconciled before the Cylons attacked. Her decision to join the fleet is an indication of the strong opposition to the beliefs of most Sagittarons' who object to medical treatment and are considered by other colonists to be backward.

Dualla became involved with presidential aide Billy Keikeya. Billy was very much in love with Dualla but she had even stronger feelings for Lee Adama. Billy proposed to her but she turned him down and broke off their relationship. He later saw her with Lee Adama on board Cloud 9 and became angry at her for leading him on. A short while later, he was killed by terrorists while trying to save her life.

When most of the fleet settled on New Caprica, Dualla stayed on board Galactica and she and Lee married. She was promoted to from Petty Officer 2nd Class to Lieutenant and began serving as XO of the Battlestar Pegasus. Despite being married to the man she loved, Dualla soon realized that her husband was in love with Kara Thrace.

The remnants of the fleet in orbit was forced to abandon New Caprica when the Cylons arrived. When Lee Adama decided to return to the planet alone with the Galactica to rescue the colonists, Dualla reassured Lee that staying behind and ensuring the survival of the remainder of the fleet was the right choice. She ultimately supported his decision to rescue his father and the Galactica and her brutal honesty forced him to get his life back together and lose the weight he'd gained.

Following the rescue of New Caprica, Dualla was forced again to deal with Lee's relationship with Kara. She watched while Lee and Kara battled each other to exhaustion in a boxing match to work out their issues. The two engaged in an affair of which Dulla was aware.

Dualla, Lee, Kara and Samuel Anders, Kara's husband, among others, aided in the harvesting of algae on a planet discovered to have plentiful algae resources that could be used as food. Dualla was forced to obey an order given by her husband and superior officer to rescue Kara after her Raptor was shot down by Cylons some distance away from her location. Her partner was killed before the rescue could begin and Dualla made it to the Raptor alone, and managed to repair the Raptor's avionics and fly it back to Galactica with Kara's guidance, despite lacking flight training. ("The Eye of Jupiter) " Dualla eventually confronted her husband about his relationship with Kara and forced him to make a choice. Lee decided to commit himself to their relationship.
