An American Werewolf in London is a 1981 comedic horror film written and directed by John Landis. It was filmed in Wales and England and won two Saturn Awards for Best Horror Film and Best Makeup. Makeup artist, Rick Baker also won an Academy Award for his work. The film premiered in the US on August 21, 1981. An American Werewolf in London spawned a sequel, An American Werewolf in Paris that failed to live up the success of the first.

Plot

Two American tourists traveling in England are attacked by a werewolf and one is killed. The other soon begins to have weird dreams and he is haunted by the ghost of his friend and other victims who demand release from the curse of an unnatural death.
