American Gothic was a short-lived 1995 television series that aired on CBS. The series featured a small South Carolina town, Trinity, where no one is who they seem to be. The town is led by Sheriff Lucas Buck (Gary Cole) who fathered Caleb Temple but had no part in raising him. Caleb (Lucas Black) was raised to believe another man, Gage, was his father. Suddenly Buck develops an unusual interest in his son's life but Gail Emory (Paige Turco), Caleb's cousin is determined to protect Caleb from his father; a job made difficult when she falls in love with the Sheriff. Caleb is also protected by Merlyn, his dead sister, now an angel. Merlyn believes Sheriff Buck is an evil incarnate who must be stopped.
