Alyson Hannigan <span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>  Alyson Hannigan is an American actress born Allison Lee Hannigan on March 24, 1974, in Washington, D.C. to parents Albert Hannigan and Emilie Posner. Her parents divorced when she was 2 years old and she moved to Atlanta with her mother, a real-estate agent. Her father is a truck driver in Missouri. She is best known for her role as Willow Rosenberg on the TV Series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Other popular roles include the naughty band geek Michelle Flaherty in the American Pie films and Lily Aldren on the CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother. Alyson began acting at a young age in Atlanta starring commercials for McDonald's, Six Flags, and Oreos. At age eleven she moved from Atlanta to Los Angeles where she continued to act and attended North Hollywood High School. Her first major role was in the 1988 film My Stepmother is an Alien. She went on to play the role of Jessi Harper in the comedy Free Spirit. She guest starred on several TV series, including Almost Home, Roseanne, Touched by an Angel, and Picket Fences. Hannigan later attended California State University in Northridge where she majored in psychology. In 1997, she was cast in the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer as Willow Rosenberg. The success of the series led to roles in the films Dead Man on Campus, American Pie and its sequels, Boys and Girls, and Beyond City Limits. She also guest-starred on episodes of the Buffy spin-off, Angel. When Buffy ended, she guest starred on Veronica Mars as Trina Echolls and eventually won a starring role in the sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Personal LifeAlsyon married Alexis Denisof in October 2003. Their wedding was featured in In Style Magazine. She is a spokesperson for breast cancer and owns a home in Sacramento, California.
