Allies is episode 20 of Stargate Atlantis Season 2 and the second season finale. Michael returns with his hive to propose and alliance with the Atlantis expedition.

Plot

Michael returns with his Wraith hive and proposes an alliance. They want to use the retrovirus to transform other Wraith into humans to supplement their food supply. Despite initial wariness, they agree to work with the hive, in no small part due to the fact that their refusal would no doubt cause the Wraith to reveal their locations to other hives.

Doctors Zelenka and Carson work with the Wraith on a means of releasing the retrovirus in aerosol form and in exchange, the hive gives Atlantis the means to bypass the jamming code the Wraith employ to prevent the Daedalus from beaming nuclear weapons on board their ships. They also offer vast amounts of information on Wraith technology.

Teyla doubts that working with the Wraith will lead to a positive outcome. She questions the expedition's willingness to transform other hives into humans and then lead them to a horrible death at the hands of other Wraith.
