Allen Koszowski (b. 1949) was born in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, and has lived there all his life, except for a stint of around ten years on the mean streets of south west Philadelphia. He spent four years in the U.S. Marines, with thirteen months of that time serving in Vietnam. He has had an interest in science fiction and horror ever since he saw the original Godzilla (Movie 1956) at a local movie theater during its initial release, and his collection of horror, SF and fantasy books, comics and magazines numbers in the tens-of-thousands. His distinctive and highly detailed stipple artwork has appeared in such publications as Fantasy Tales, Whispers, Weirdbook, Asimov’s Science Fiction, The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, Analog, Weird Tales, Cemetery Dance, The Horror Show and many others. He has also contributed art to such publishers as Subterranean Press, Midnight House and Midnight Marquee Press, to name only a few imprints. Koszowski has won The L. Ron Hubbard Illustrators of the Year Award, The World Fantasy Award for Best Artist, and the Small Press Writers and Artists Award a number of times. Despite mostly working in black and white illustration, he has been the Artist Guest of Honor at the World Fantasy Convention, The World Horror Convention, Albacon, Necronomicon and Eeriecon. In 2003 Koszowski launched his own fiction title, Allen K’s Inhuman Magazine.
