Alice in Wonderland (aka Alice's Adventures in Wonderland) is an 1865 novel by Lewis Carroll. The nonsensical children's book has been the inspiration for other works of literature, film, television and music. The story tells the tale of a young girl, Alice, who falls down a rabbit hole and into a strange world filled with fantastic creatures, and talking animals with even odder behavior than one might expect from such creatures.
in 1960, Martin Gardner's The Annotated Alice was published, a popular version with extensive explanations of allusions and background information.

It's usually best to give a very general overview to a story first, then plot details. When including the plot or essential details in your article (which could ruin the pleasure of discovery for some readers), it is important to include the spoiler tag before any give-away material.
