Alfred Hitchcock Presents was hosted by the famous director. A line drawing of "Hitch" (reportedly done by Alfred Hitchcock himself) would be on the screen, and he would step into it. He would make some irreverent comments in his distinctive delivery (different comments for American and British audiences), mocking something (in the US, often the sponsors of the show, in England, often Americans).
Like Hitchcock's movies, most of the episodes were not fantasy, but dealt with the dark extremes of human behaviour. The Canary Sedan (June 15, 1958) was an exception, having an apparently psychic character.
Episode writers included: Ray Bradbury, Jerry Sohl, Charles Beaumont, Robert Bloch, and so on.
