Alejandro Herrera is a fictional character on the series Heroes portrayed by Shalim Ortiz. Alejandro and his twin sister, Maya Herrera are fugitives, wanted for murder in Central America.

Maya and Alejandro first appeared in "Four Months Later", on the run from the police for murder. Maya is the one responsible for the deaths. When disturbed or panicked, she secretes black fluid from her eyes which kills those around her. Her brother is the only one able to calm her and return her to normal and prevent her from killing anyone else. After reading Chandra Suresh' book, Activating Evolution the pair set off on a journey to New York City hoping to find answers.

Alejandro discovered his sister's ability at his wedding. When Maya discovered his fiancee was cheating on him with an old boyfriend, she confronted the pair. She was threatened by the boyfriend and in her panic, her ability was revealed and everyone at the wedding was killed except Alejandro. She fled to South America where Alejandro found her, believing her to be a murderer. However, when her abilities activated once again, he realized what had happened and helped her escape the police. They learned of Dr. Suresh and decided to head north through Central America hoping to find him.

Along the way, Alejandro was arrested in Mexico. Maya was able to free him at the cost of the arresting officers' lives and along with fellow prisoner, American citizen, Derek they made their way to the US border. They picked up a stranger who introduced himself as Gabriel Gray. Despite Alejandro's wariness, Maya opened up to him revealing where they were going and why. Gray, the serial killer, Sylar witnessed their abilities in action when he informed them that Derek intended to call the police after discovering they were criminals.

The three made their way to the United States and Sylar continued to undermine Alejandro and Maya's relationship. Alejandro repeatedly warned Maya against trusting Sylar but even after discovering that Sylar had killed his own mother, Maya continued to have faith in him causing an argument that caused Alejandro to walk out on the two, disappointed in her. Alejandro was killed by Sylar shortly after.
