Adventure is a category of fiction that takes the reader (or the watcher, in the case of movies and television) on an exciting journey with action, mystery, and atmosphere. Science fiction can be contemplative an philosophical in nature, or a wildly fantastic adventure, or somewhere in between. Adventure usually is combined with other genres, like science fiction adventure, as in the The Star Trek franchise, as well as more science oriented social concepts, such as in Isaac Asimov's Foundation Trilogy.
