A Prize for Edie is a 1500-word short story by J. F. Bone, about a dilemma faced by the Nobel Prize committee. It first appeared in the April, 1961 issue of Analog.

Plot

At the beginning of the 21st century, the medical board of the Nobel Prize committee have already decided that the prize must go to an American named "C. Edie", who essentially cured cancer. But now they are horrified to learn that in fact "C. Edie" is a computer.
