7 Faces of Dr. Lao is a 1964 fantasy film based on the Charles G. Finney novel, The Circus of Dr. Lao. The film depicts the effects of a mysterious circus on a small town. Directed by George Pal, Tony Randall stars in several roles: Dr. Lao, the mysterious circus proprietor; Pan; the Abominable Snowman; Medusa; Merlin; and Appolonius of Tyana. He also provides the voice of a stop-motion animation snake. Other stars include Barbara Eden and Noah Beery Jr.

Randall has an amusing cameo with very little makeup, as the only disbelieving audience member during a particularly dramatic presentation.

Awards

  • William Tuttle was given a special Oscar for his makeup work
  • Jim Danforth was nominated for an Oscar for his special effects, which included extensive stop-motion work

It's usually best to give a very general overview to a story first, then plot details. When including the plot or essential details in your article (which could ruin the pleasure of discovery for some readers), it is important to include the spoiler tag before any give-away material.
