2010: Odyssey Two is Arthur C. Clarke's follow up novel to the novel 2001: A Space Odyssey. Released in 1982, like its predecessor, the novel was adapted for the screen in the film 2010: The Year We Make Contact. Two more novels followed, 2061: Odyssey Three and 3001: The Final Odyssey.

Synopsis

In this installment, nine years after the failed Discovery mission, amidst Cold War tensions, an American crew joins a Russian ship headed towards Jupiter. They intend to investigate what happened to the Discovery. A Chinese vessel, the Tsien, is also making its way toward Jupiter. The Tsien's mission ends in tragedy on Europa but the Russian vessel Leonov rendezvous with the Discovery and the team discovers why the HAL 9000 did away with its own crew. Again they encounter the mysterious monolith which answers many questions, produces more mysteries and transforms life in the solar system forever.
