Nominations for the 2008 Academy Awards ceremony to be held February 24, 208, were first announced January 22, 2008. The awards honor the best in films released in the calendar year of 2007, although some of the major films were still in American theaters in the early part of 2008.

Disney/Pixar did particularly well as genre movies in the nominations. Ratatouile received five nominations, including an original screenplay (not usually given to animated features). Enchanted received three out of five of the best song nominations.

Oscar nominated genre works this year were: Ratatouille (5), Enchanted (3), Transformers (3), The Golden Compass (2), Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2), and Surf's Up (1).
