1408 is a 2007 film produced by Dimension Films and directed by Mikael Håfström. The film is based on a Stephen King short story. John Cusack plays a skeptical and bitter writer, Mike Enslin, who travels to various sites which claim to experience hauntings. Though he doesn't believe in the phenomena he is encouraged to visit room 1408 in the Dolphin Hotel in which over fifty people have died. The room is no longer rented out but Enslin is determined to stay in the room and prove for himself that its legendary status is mere myth. Though the hotel manager tries to convince him not to stay, he eventually rents the room to Enslin who discovers for himself the room's evil nature.
