'Twas Halloween Evening

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

'Twas Halloween Evening is a poem read by Gomez Addams on the Halloween with the Addams Family episode of The Addams Family.

The poem follows the scheme of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas. While the title is not given, it is assumed to be the beginning words.

Twas Halloween Evening
And through the abode
Not a creature was stirring
Not even a toad
Jack-o-lanterns are hung on the gallows with care
To guide Sister Witch as she flies through the air

(Gomez says in an aside, "Drawn by eight beautiful bats")

And she calls out to them
(Morticia): "Come Flitter, come Flutter, come Flapper and Flier
(Fester): Come Chitter, come Chatter, come vicious vampire"

Only seven bats are named, but the poem reading may be interrupted at that point, when the two "guests" (who are actually crooks) start to flee.
